Great place to stay and have the opportunity to get on your feet.
Tell me where I am at
I'm not trying to be a snob here, but I was homeless & I left this shelter in less than 12 hours. I couldn't even get myself to stay the night. That's how uncomfortable I was. Most people probably wouldn't mind staying here, but I would hate for someone else to waste their time & money like I did. My issue was with the cleanliness & condition of the facility. Let me put it this way: I've spent a night in jail in the past & I would rather stay there. It's THAT bad. And this place has the WORST aroma I've ever smelled. I had to go to the bathroom SO bad when I arrived, but instead I just walked to the closest gas station to relieve myself. There is NO private bathroom or shower, the entire bathroom is OPEN (yes seriously), with a couple cramped, filthy toilet stalls in between the shower & sink. WOW. And they also make you wash your clothing when you arrive, (which is normal), but considering the laundry room smelled like a moldy dirty diaper that was a big HE-- NO! Last but not least, the bedroom I had to share with another resident was a TOTAL MESS. My bed was covered with her stuff & there wasn't an inch of space anywhere for my bag!! This should be UNACCEPTABLE in ALL shelters. My bed was also already made instead of it being bare so I could put clean linens on it??? I'm not sure why they have residents do chores because the only thing that will help this place is bulldozing it to the ground. The best thing this place has going for it is the staff, but I really wish they would take more pride in the shelter that they're running. If you really need help I would try the domestic violence Crisis Center in Minot. They are INCREDIBLE and have a wonderful playroom for kids as well. Very clean, spacious & HOMEY. Sorry for the long review but I hope it helps someone else.
This shelter is an amazing place to help you get back on your feet and staff are always great. Also helps with how to get resources if its financial or basic needs.
